1 KG Blue/White Silica Gel Beads (packaged in resealable zip lock bag)

Silica Gel can adsorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture and has the highest absorption capacity of any commercially used desiccant. Our loose silica gel beads are Self Indicating and mixed with Non Indicating Silica Gel at a ratio of 95% white 5% blue. The blue beads change to pink indicating the silica gel has become exhausted and should be replaced or regenerated.

Silica gel is an amorphous form of silicon dioxide, which is synthetically produced in the form of hard irregular granules (having the appearance of crystals) or hard regular beads. A microporous structure of interlocking cavities gives a very high surface area (800 square meters per gram). It is this structure that makes silica gel a high capacity desiccant. Water molecules adhere to the gels surface because it exhibits a lower vapour pressure than the surrounding air. When an equilibrium of equal pressure is reached,no more adsorption occurs.

Reactivation Instructions

The blue/white silica gel we supply is auto-indicating - the blue indicator beads in this mix change from Blue (when active), to Pink when it is no longer active (saturated).

Once the Silica Gel is no longer active, it is easy to re-activate by heating the granules in an open container in your oven, at a temperature of between 105 and 110°c. When the indicating granules return to their original colour blue, let the Silica Gel cool and then store it in a sealed container until you are ready to use it again.
