SILICA GEL - is a thirsty, granular compound that offers the best method of preserving the natural beauty of fresh flowers. Silica gel actually absorbs the moisture of the flower with little damage to the flower's color and form. Since ancient times, flowers have been air-dried and sand-dried. These methods, however, produce a shriveled look and faded colors. Now, with Silica Gel, it is possible to preserve nature's beauties. There is no limit to the bouquets you can preserve. Most flowers will dry in 36 to 48 hours.

Use silica gel in an airtight container or it will absorb moisture from the air, not from the flower tissues. Flowers that dry well in silica gel include: rose, aster, carnation, marigold, dahlia, larkspur, geranium, zinnia, chrysanthemum and delphinium. Best to store flowers dried with silca gel in a shadow box or air tight display case.

Silica Gel never wears out. You can use it over and over again.

Reactivation Instructions

The orange/white silica gel we supply is auto-indicating - the orange indicator beads in this mix change from orange (when active), to dark green when it is no longer active (saturated).

Once the Silica Gel is no longer active, it is easy to re-activate by heating the granules in an open container in your oven, at a temperature of between 115 and 125°c. When the indicating granules return to their original colour orange, let the Silica Gel cool and then store it in a sealed container until you are ready to use it again.
